Sleepless Nights 2
Going Home

Hi everyone!

Again, I couldn't sleep due to an upcoming adoption. I hope you don't mind my sharing this with you.

Cheryl Reed

It's time to let you go.

Oh, little one! The time has come for you to go to your new home.

The months of watching you grow and learn while I searched for your new home have paid off, and I found the perfect person to take my place in your life.

I look in your sweet face and I remember each step of your progress; progress that at times seemed to come incredibly slowly, but it retrospect; I realize that it was swifter than anyone would have thought possible. You really beat the odds.

You were incredibly shy and terribly scared. You had been abused to the point where you trusted no one. What you had gone through to make you so terrified of people in one short year of life, I can only imagine. That you never lashed out in your fear, I can only commend.

It only took you a day to realize that I wouldn't hurt you. You must have been so desperate for a friend. And as the days went by; your devotion to me grew to incredible proportions. You were glued to my side night and day. When fear would overtake you, you would turn your terrified eyes to mine and I would see trust slowly replace the terror. And then the terror came less every day.

Your tail never stopped wagging when you were with me. You danced with joy when I came into a room. You learned that not everyone was going to hurt you, and not everything was to be feared. When the going seemed slow, I promised you that I would never give up on you; I would never let you down. And you responded by gaining the confidence that should have been your birthright all along. I am so proud of you. You've surpassed all my expectations.

Now you're going to a new home. You need to trust me one last time. You need to know that I have picked this new home so very carefully. I know that you will be happy there, and that you will be loved as much as I loved you. Your endless enthusiasm for life will be a joy to your new owner. Your endless kisses will brighten her days from now on. You are so very special. Thank you for all the lessons that we shared. I was lucky to be touched by you.
